£10.5K pledge as Pop Chorus partner with Ipswich food bank charity FIND

Pop Chorus has announced a year-long partnership with charity Families in Need (FIND), pledging to raise over £10,000.

Pop Chorus is adopting FIND as its charity of the year to support the £100,000 FIND needs for its services each year. They’ve got off to a flying start with a donation of £1,000 from Festival Republic in lieu of a fee for the choir’s second performance at Latitude Festival.

Choir Director, Yula Andrews, said: “FIND is the perfect fit for Pop Chorus. The work that FIND does each day to help those struggling across Suffolk is phenomenal and is an inspiration to us all. We are proud to support the charity and pledge to raise £10,500 to help those in need.”

Pop Chorus are well known in Suffolk, selling out concerts at the Ipswich Regent, performing on the pitch at Portman Road and playing at Latitude Festival on the BBC Sound Stage two years running. The choir is offering to sing for companies and businesses who are raising money for FIND through an event during 2019/20.

Maureen Reynel MBE, founder of FIND, said: “This is an exciting partnership for FIND. The support Pop Chorus and Yula have given Iceni and other Suffolk charities in recent years has been astounding. We are so thankful for the support they are giving us and look forward to the next year working with them.”

FIND provides thousands of food parcels to people in crisis each year. The demand for food parcels and other items has grown year on year to over 100 per week, stretching the charity’s 80+ volunteers, who have been working in cramped and unheated facilities.

The money raised will help fund FIND’ to deliver its services from the new food bank and headquarters on Braziers Wood Road in Gainsborough. The charity’s provision of emergency food parcels, white goods and other services for people in crisis exceed £100,000 per year. The new food bank is near completion and is due to be open in the Autumn.

Donations are welcome to help with the operational costs associated with the food bank each year.
